Nicola Wilson from Trading Standards |
| Nicola Wilson, Community Development Officer attended the May meeting to give a presentation on the operation of Trading Standards. Trading Standards are responsible for applying 51 Acts Of Parliament which covers the Sale of Goods Act and the Statutory Rights of the Customer. This means that goods sold must be Fit for Purpose, meet their Material Description and of Satisfactory Quality. Key points of the presentation were :_ Door Step Selling - you have 7 days to cancel any agreement signed. Rogue Traders - selling of counterfeit goods is illegal. Scams - these are becoming more and more regular of people contacting you by phone or on the doorstep trying to get your bank or credit card details. So the advice is to be very vigilant.
